There is no secret that Kawasaki has been hard at work on its electric and hybrid motorcycle range for some time now. During the recent Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance race, the Japanese motorcycle maker revealed two prototypes that you need to know about. Here are the details you need to know.

Kawasaki is working on a hybrid vehicle. It is evident from these images that the kawasaki Ninja HEV will be powered by a parallel-twin liquid-cooled engine, which is likely to be around 650cc, despite the fact that the prototype's bodywork looks very much like that of the kawasaki Ninja 400. Aside from these features, it also gets dual discs at the front, telescopic forks, a monoshock, and a swingarm that seems to be much longer than usual.

It is important to note, however, that the Z EV, as its name suggests, is a pure electric motorcycle, and not a hybrid. It consists of a motor positioned centrally with a chain drive attached to it, and a battery located diagonally above the motor. There is no doubt that the Z EV prototype is based on the Z250's chassis, and Kawasaki could very well tune the final product to be equivalent to a 200cc petrol-powered motorcycle with a 200cc engine.

The Z EV gets a single disc at the front and rear and comes with a set of alloy wheels wrapped in rubber with a road-biased pattern. Regardless of the vehicle's suspension setup, it has telescopic front forks and a monoshock in the rear.  As both of these bikes seem to be close to becoming production-ready, we can expect the manufacturer to showcase them at the EICMA 2022 expo.
