Introducing Honda's new Honda Hornet 750, with its 750 cubic centimeter engine, new frame, and an entirely new concept than we are used to. The new CB750 Hornet looks good even on paper, based on the first official figures. It has 92 horsepower, 7.5kg of torque, and weighs 190 kg thanks to its new 755cc inline-twin engine. As a result, we went to Spain to see how everything we already had would work in practice, to get a sense of how this bike would handle, and whether it's a naked everyday utility, or a more demanding streetfighter - a name the Hornet name was not previously associated with.

In other words, the Hornet's new engine is more than its heart, it is its soul. In other words, there is not only power, but also character with this two-cylinder in-line, replacing the four-cylinders of the past. The Spanish Sierra Nevada mountain range revealed its character on empty winding roads, where it provided an excellent backdrop for showing off its potential.

Starting at low revs, the power builds steadily up to the peak, in a straight line. There is no drop in performance when holding the throttle, as the torque takes you steadily through the alternating turns, as the throttle acts as the magic button that opens up a world of endless possibilities.

After all, our navigator was consistent in his pace, so I didn't need to downshift often in corners with the new Honda CB 750. In comparison with other bikes in the same displacement class, you need to downshift one less gear to accelerate properly thanks to its torque. Furthermore, even for the minimal changes that were required, the flawless Quickshifter used by the test bikes helped, and can be ordered as an optional package from Honda.

It's undoubtedly worth adding the Quickshifter to the Hornet, as the added cost of 290 euros doesn't ultimately raise the total price of the bike above its psychological limit of 8,000 euros. Our recommendation is that it works well in both upshifts and downshifts. Once again I was amazed by the fast pace that the Honda CB750 Hornet was able to maintain. It just takes a little time to get used to a 750 with a 160 rear tire, which ultimately proves to be the right choice due to its powerful twin-cylinder engine and surprising road handling. Hornet is a model of agility, with a not-so-wide tyre on the rear enabling it to corner easily.

With its total weight of 190 kg full of liquid, it simulates the ease of riding a 500cc naked motorcycle, especially with regard to its response to steering wheel movements. Its output of 92 hp and 7.5 kgm of torque is available everywhere, so you can easily guess horsepower and 75 Nm, which is available everywhere. You can guess the outcome of this combination, which takes you on a merry ride. It turns out that we didn't miss the four-cylinder engine of previous versions at all, and that was one of our fears.

It's hard to find much fault with Showa's 41mm up side down front suspension setup. And the fork is not adjustable at all, so that's a bonus. When we slightly increased the spring preload, the shock performed better. The Hornet's slightly stiffer shock absorber didn't reduce comfort, but slightly increased its sportiness, which is a good compromise between comfort and sportiness.

If it had some adjustable suspension, e.g. by Ohlins, it would certainly perform better in sport driving, but its character is such that it does well for its intended purpose, so we don't see the need. It might be the same with Nissin brakes, which performed well at every riding speed, with plenty of power and just the right feel despite not being top-of-the-line. Keeping in mind that Honda made a motorcycle that has a very competitive price for the category, not a streetfighter with such details and equipment. There can be no compromises when the engine is great, the chassis is correct, and the peripherals are good. All of these elements make for a drivable, useful vehicle.

On the other hand, you have to be careful if you want to get good value for money on a bike. When this happens, it indicates that the finish, equipment, or materials were skimpy. In contrast, the 2023 Honda CB750 Hornet provides a good package of electronic aids, with the ability to change three parameters in each of the four driving modes: engine braking, power and traction control. User mode allows you to set each parameter individually and to turn off Traction Control. Those who like total control and the opportunity to spin whenever they like will particularly benefit from this. Besides, the Hornet almost asks for it, and those looking to make a splash,

The three optional packages make it possible for those with discerning tastes or those who want to add their own color to the bike to make it their own.
