As part of the EICMA show in Milan, the Suzuki Motorcycle Company unveiled a brand new 776cc DOHC parallel-twin engine that will power two new models - the 2023 Suzuki V-Strom 800DE (and Adventure variant) and the 2023 Suzuki GSX-8S.

Suzuki says the 2023 Suzuki GSX-8S is a “brand-new naked middleweight streetfighter with a robust engine, an agile chassis, a suite of electronic rider aids, plus stunning looks.” With an engine capacity of 776cc, this compact parallel-twin engine is mounted in a robust steel frame, is equipped with a 270-degree firing order for strong torque production, and is equipped with Suzuki's exclusive Cross Balancer system to keep vibrations to a minimum. Besides having ride-by-wire electronic throttle control, Suzuki Clutch Assist System (SCAS) and Bi-directional Quick Shift, the bike also has a ride-by-wire electronic throttle control system.

Additionally, the 2023 Suzuki GSX-8S is equipped with Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (S.I.R.S.) with a three-mode Suzuki Drive Mode Selector, Suzuki’s Advanced Traction Control System with four modes, ABS, as well as Suzuki's Easy Start and Low RPM Assist systems. There are new exposed seat rails that are engineered to support the rider and, when combined with the 3.69 gallons of fuel that are contained in a narrow rear section that flows into the seat, contribute to the 2023 GSX-8S' slim appearance and stripped-down appearance.

The front suspension of the bike is provided by a KYB inverted fork with a stroke of 130mm with stable damping characteristics that makes it suitable for both long-distance riding and sports riding, while the rear suspension is a link-type mono-shock KYB suspension system with a mechanical preload adjustment feature. Front brakes come with Nissin radial-mount 4-piston calipers, which are coupled with floating-mount dual discs which are 310mm outside diameter and mounted on floating-mount calipers. The rear brake uses a single piston pin-slide caliper which has an outer diameter of 240 mm as well as a 240 mm diameter disc.

There is a new lightweight design for the cast aluminum wheels, which are shod with a new generation of Dunlop RoadSport 2 radial tires (120/70ZR17 for the front, 180/55ZR17 for the rear), and Suzuki also says that the tapered aluminum handlebars allow for a sporty yet comfortable upright riding position and offer a wide grip that contributes to positive steering control. The seat has been designed to provide solid support for the rider toward the edge of the seat, with a height of 31.9 inches. Among the features of the bike are the 5-inch color TFT LCD multi-function instrument panel, vertically stacked LED headlights mounted in hexagonal housings topped by a position light, and LED turnsignals and taillights.

All combined, the GSX-8S comes in at a curb weight of 445 lb and offers styling that Suzuki says creates “an appealing new mass-forward, aggressive look that is slim, compact, well-balanced, and ready for action.” As part of Suzuki's 2023 GSX-8S line-up, you will find three colorways to choose from, each of which includes unique logos and graphics that help identify the sport's newest performance motorcycle and which were first seen on the 2022 GSX-S1000. There is a choice of Suzuki's Pearl Cosmic Blue, Pearl Tech White, or Metallic Matte Black No. 2 / Glass Sparkle Black paint scheme that can be chosen by buyers. As of the publication of this article, there is no information regarding pricing or availability.
