All new 2023 Honda CL500 New A2 Retro Bike Now available as a scrambler too and being presented at the EICMA 2022.

Honda's A2 twin-cylinder family includes the CB500F, CB500X, CBR500R, and CMX500 Rebel. This cool retro scrambler CL500 is now being shown at EICMA 2022.

There's nothing new about Honda's CL 500 name. As early as the 1960s and 1970s, cool models were available, but they were sold as normal naked bikes. As everything today is clearly categorized into its niche, the Honda's CL 500 certainly belongs to the retro scrambler category. There is a basis for this category whatever you call it.

Twin A2 compliant Honda CL500

The new Honda CL500 uses the same 471cm inline two-cylinder engine as the Honda CB500. Honda remapped the Scrambler unit for 47 hp at 8,500 rpm and 43.4 Nm at 6,250 rpm, which increases power and torque. A 6-speed gearbox with anti-hopping clutch and chain transfers the power to the 150 rear wheel. Honda claims that the Honda CL500 consumes 3.6 liters, which means a fully charged 12-liter tank can support 330 kilometers of driving. Sound is the biggest question mark with the honda CL500 engine. An exhaust pipe raised by Honda should produce a bassy sound, according to the manufacturer. If the muffler only sounds half as good as it looks, a lot has already been gained!

Chassis and tires should allow light off-roading

In the CL500, Honda uses a tubular steel frame typical of such a bike. A credible concept also applies to the chassis. A telescopic fork with a diameter of 41 mm and a spring travel of 150 mm is installed at the front, while stereo spring struts with a spring travel of 145 mm work at the rear. You can adjust the spring preload of all chassis components. With 19 inch front wheels and 17 inch rear wheels, it should have good road holding on the road and in easy terrain. The tires are Dunlop Trailmax Mixtour tires with a coarse profile in size 110/80-R19 at the front and 150/70-R17 tires at the rear.

The CL500 was designed perfectly by Honda

Fork bellows, side tank pads, Honda lettering on the seat and high handlebars - nostalgics and Honda fans will praise the design. As befits a 2023 model, LED lighting is completely used, but does not ruin the classic styling. The new Honda CL500 comes with an LC display, which displays all the necessary data, but looks a bit out of place. Analogue displays would have been more coherent here, but Honda does not currently have such in its range, so unfortunately you cannot fall back on them.

Retro bikes should satisfy beginners and experienced bikers

Honda  has proven in tests and sales figures that a sensational concept can work in the A2 class with the honda CMX500 Rebel. There is nothing to prevent the CL500 from making up for this success. 192 kilograms isn't light, but it makes you feel like you're riding a full-fledged bike, as it's one of the most capable bikes in its class. This seat height of 790 millimeters also appeals to a broad base of customers who want a secure footing when at traffic lights.

The front wheel is decelerated by a hydraulically operated two-piston caliper, which engages a floating single disc brake. Single-piston caliper brakes on the rear wheel with 240 mm discs. Based on Honda's first broadcast, it does not appear that the 2-channel ABS could be deactivated, at least not on the rear wheel, although it is legitimate to wonder what percentage would use it.

Pricing and colors for Honda CL500 2023

Honda Genuine Accessories are available for the CL500, giving the owner plenty of customization options. Assembly of add-on parts and side bags is done on the rear frame. Luggage rack secures top case. Riders who are taller can opt for a seat 30 mm higher - brown with black stitching. The front fender cover, windshield, hand air deflectors, and side number plates complete the classic off-road style. Practical parts such as heated grips, 12 V socket and a rear shock absorber cover are also available.
