KTM is working on a new 125 Duke. This changes significantly with the change to the next generation. The basic features of the current KTM 125 Duke go back to 2007. Since then it has been a constant in the 125 segment and also a bestseller in many markets. Now we've got a next-gen spy, which is expected to hit the market in 2023. And what the Erlkönig reveals is more revo than evolution, because KTM is actually doing
everything new on the little Duke.

All new single cylinder
The completely newly developed single-cylinder engine, which should primarily run more cultivated and cleaner, is clearly recognizable. In terms of performance, the predecessor was always absolutely within the permitted class limit. The catalytic converter gets bigger and moves much closer to the outlet so that it can be heated up and become effective even faster. If you follow the manifold, you will see a completely new under-engine collector with a stub tailpipe in front of the rear wheel. The laterally routed silencer is history.

The new engine also hangs on new cast aluminum brackets in a completely redesigned tubular steel space frame. The Mattighofen-based company is completely rethinking the rear frame. The previous trellis structure is replaced by a screwed-on die-cast aluminum element. The screwed-on pillion footrest extensions also change from tubular steel to cast aluminium. The new cast rims appear even more delicate with their five-spoke design. In addition, the single disc brake system on the front wheel moves from the left to the right side. But it remains with a radially mounted pliers.

Banana swingarm with overlay

Also completely redesigned is the aluminum die-cast rear wheel swing arm, which now has an upper cable over the left arm and a banana shape over the right arm. The spring strut sits horizontally on the right side and is supported directly on the frame. Adjustment options can be seen on the USD fork from WP. In the new edition, the tank panels are even further forward and thus flank the newly framed LED twin headlights with an insect look, from which the LED turn signals now grow laterally. A TFT display can be seen in the cockpit, probably with numerous networking options.
