MV Agusta Rapido Serie Oro Shines Above All Other E-ScootersSerie Oro gives the humble e-scooter a makeover. It has long been regarded as one of the most exclusive boutique motorcycle manufacturers in the world. The Italian company is known for producing some of the most visually striking motorcycles with excellent performance to boot. It will certainly be interesting to see how MV Agusta adapts to the changing tides of the motorcycle industry, particularly the shift towards lightweight electric machines.

With the launch of the AMO RR and RC in July 2021, we got a glimpse of what MV Agusta's future might be like in the electric world. Electric mountain bikes were the company's first foray into the world of electric mobility, and it seems they won't be stopping there. MV Agusta has now joined Aprilia, with the eSR2, and Ducati, with the Pro III Evo, with its own electric scooter. This machine is called the Rapido Serie Oro, and one look at it makes it clear that it wants to stand out from the competition.

The bike is clearly based on MV Agusta's high-performance machines, such as the Superveloce retro sportbike and the Brutale naked streetfighter. It has a round, LED headlight that lends it a bulky, muscular appearance. There are two flares on either side of the headlight, reminiscent of the winglets found on hypersport machines. Although rigid, the front fork is shaped to complement the scooter's bodywork. Underneath the sporty exterior lies a lightweight magnesium alloy frame - a major step up from the aluminum frames used by the competition.

Rapido Serie Oro comes equipped with top-of-the-line features such as 10-inch alloy wheels and wide tubeless tires, front and rear disc brakes, and a large, four-inch LCD instrument panel. The scooter is powered by a 48V, 10.4 Ah lithium-ion battery that is connected to a 500 W brushless electric motor integrated into the rear wheel. With a torque of 24 Nm, it propels the scooter to a top speed of 38 kilometers per hour, or 24 mph. Four riding modes are accessible through the instrument cluster.

The battery charges from zero to full in around six hours, and is rated for 50 kilometers, or 31 miles, of riding range per charge. Rapido Serie Oro, like most other e-scooters, can be folded for easy storage and transportation. The retail price is 999 Euros, which is about $1,160 USD. MV Agusta is, however, offering it at a discounted price of 849 Euros, or $983 USD, until Christmas.
