All new 2022 KAWASAKI NINJA H2 SX AND SE More power and radar for the touring ninja let's take a look, A new look, a new chassis, more power and radar front and rear are the cornerstones of the new Ninja H2-SX models for 2022. They will celebrate their premiere at EICMA in Milan.

We are eagerly awaiting the replacement part prices from Kawasaki. Especially the price of the license plate holder with the integrated radar sensor of the Ninja H2 SX and the SX SE for 2022 is interesting. The new sensor is located just above the indicators and the license plate, behind a cover. Its radar waves capture the ninja's blind spot and warn the driver if a vehicle is detected via warning lights integrated in the new rear-view mirrors. Drivers know the system as blind spot detection or blind spot warning.

Radar front and rear

Another radar sensor sits in the new nose of the Ninja H2 SX. Smartly integrated under the new LED headlights behind a dark, flat cover, the front radar detects the traffic ahead and controls the new adaptive cruise control (ACC) and the new collision warning when the cruise control is not active. A novelty in the context of active driving aids is the active braking intervention of the cruise control with the Bosch radar and the control systems behind it. Not directly, but only as the last stage in a cascade of interventions to reduce the speed of the vehicle in front. First, the system throttles the output of the 200 hp engine in order to maintain or increase the distance. If that is not enough, the engine brake reduces the speed by increasing the drag torque. As the final stage, the Kawa applies the brakes without decelerating to a standstill. The ACC can be set in three stages.

Collision warning can be switched off

Part of the radar system is a collision warning (Front Collision Warning, FCW) which, when the ACC is switched off, detects the traffic and warns the driver optically if the speed difference between the vehicle and the vehicle in front is too great. The system can be set and switched off in three stages. The FCW does not intervene in the engine power and braking as with ACC cruise control.

New ninja mask

So that the radar sensor has a place in the front, Kawasaki has given the Ninja H2 SX a big lift: the new headlight with a diameter of just 40 millimeters sits higher in the fairing, with the radar sensor underneath. Above that is the new Kawasaki Motorrad logo. From 2022 on board the SX will be the cornering light in the side panels known from the SE, which, depending on the inclination, switches up to three additional LEDs to illuminate the corner. For 2022, Kawasaki is mixing the models. The H2 SX is equipped comparable to the "old" SE, the new SE gets the features of the previous year SE +. A painted case system from Givi can be retrofitted, the brackets for this are already integrated into the rear frame.

Fresh chassis for the SE

The top version of the Kawasaki Ninja H2 SX is still called SX SE and will receive revised software for the Skyhook chassis from Showa for 2022. It provides roll compensation, which regulates the damping when braking and accelerating and softens the dynamic wheel load distribution. In addition to the electronically controlled chassis, another feature of the SE is its front brake system, which is provided by Stylema calipers from Brembo. The basic version of the supercharged tourer works with radially mounted saddles with Kawasaki shifting. In 2022, both versions will have new, coordinated, active, incline-dependent aids based on the Bosch 10.3 system, including a new hill-start aid.

More steam in the boiler

The well-known four-cylinder with 998 cubic meters and a radial compressor on the gearbox basically remains unaffected. The interventions that lift the four-cylinder over the Euro 5 hurdle include new timing of the intake and exhaust camshafts, a new muffler without a front silencer and a new adjustment of the injection system with a new ECU. Pleasant by-product: More power in all speed ranges. In figures: 137 Nm are available at 8,500 rpm, which is 1,000 tours earlier than before. Much more impressive are the additional Nm that are applied over the entire speed range. The top performance remains at 200 hp at 11,000 tours, with Ram-Air even 210 hp. The earlier applied maximum torque with unchanged power promises a higher elasticity.
